Tama Metalworks Snare Drum
The Tama Metalworks series of snare drums is quite striking to say the least (no pun intended). The drum shell has an industrial brushed look that is also elegant and eye catching. The snare comes with Evans Power Center Reverse Dot heads stock and had good projection. Metalworks snares come in a variety of sizes ranging from 4” x 12” up to 6.5” x 14”. The shell is made of steel and is uniformly lathed and 1.2 mm thick. It also boosts high quality black nickel hardware that compliments the entire look.
Pros: This snare drum offers a great value for the features that are included and has a great sound which is very suitable to rock but is also sensitive enough for a jazz player. The Wide range of sizes available allows you to customize the exact dimensions that you prefer in a snare drum.
Cons: Metalworks snares are known to come out of tune fairly easily and some people have trouble getting them to sound the way they want. It does have the distinct ring of a steel snare drum but is can be controlled with muffling or tuning adjustments
