Up for auction is an amazing vintage 1978-79 14" Ludwig Acrolite Snare Drum in awesome condition. Gorgeous vintage snare that is all original and has it's original heads with lots of life left! Purchased this a few years ago to use in the studio since it sounded so amazing. Picked it up from the original owner who never picked up drumming and got this as a gift when he was young. I have hardly used it as I have a few other snare's I adore, so it must go! This snare is simply amazing. Great for Rock music of all sorts and can handle R&B, Soul, Gospel extremely well. Passing it on to someone who will get to enjoy rocking out on it. The blue and olive badge is great shape. Original heads with lots of life left. Original strainer is in great shape as well! Dusty and a little dirty, but she'll polish up like new. Overall in very good shape! Sale is final. l_oppleman Store Description: Vintage Ludwig Acrolite snare drum (circa 1970's) w/ case 404 and standYou are no doubt familiar with this drum if you're looking at this listing. You already know about the Ludwig Acrolite (aka the 404) 5 x 14", seamless aluminum spun shell. This construction makes it rugged, reliable and cosistent. You probably also noticed the smooth finish and pointy blue and olive, or B/O badge, indcates this particular drum is from the 1970's and the serial number pins it down to around 1976. This drum's reputation as a versitile snare, capable of fitting into nearly any kit for live or studio work preceeds it so you were probably aware of that too. Don't let the 8 lugs fool you either, this isn't a beginner piece. This particular 404 is in good shape. It has been played, as evidenced by the minor wear and tear on the outside of the shell. The previous owner put an Evan's head on it and taped a ring to the snare head. Since this thing sounds fantastic to me I haven't taken these off. All the lugs work fine and the throw-off is functions with no fuss. Included with this drum is a ludwig case but the original stand is missing.
