The shell is 8 ply maple wood. It is in GREAT SHAPE! The only issue is a couple of dings on the outside of the shell - see pic #3. Other than that, all you will notice is light wear on the hoops. This was my left side snare and only used infrequently. This drum looks great and sounds AWESOME! Excellent "POP" and "CRACK" from this snare drum! Top Head - Evans G1 Coated - Plenty of Life Left!
